In 1989, PIOVAN+STAR AUTOMATION S.P.A. was established in the suburbs of Venice as a joint venture with PIOVAN S.P.A. of Italy as a production and sales base for Star Seiki in Europe. For new development, we acquired all the shares of this company and started a new company, STAR AUTOMATION EUROPE S.P.A. (SAE), in March 2001. SAE's staff has been handling Star Seiki's take-out robots and factory automation equipment for many years and maintains a high level of technical expertise. SAE is responsible for all of Europe, but has set up branch agencies in each country under its control to cover the wide European area. Italian domestic market is covered by SAE itself, and countries where branch agencies have not yet been set up are followed up by SAE from Italy. In principle, all supplies of Star products to users located within Europe are sold by SAE through branch distributors in each country.
